The State of Inequality: Is Canada Bridging or Widening the Gap?

Oxfam Canada’s Inequality Scorecard 2025 examines the state of inequality in Canada. From wealth concentration and unaffordable living costs to health inequities, climate injustice, and systemic discrimination.

The Scorecard highlights how increases to the cost of living disproportionately impact the most vulnerable, how corporate monopolies deepen economic divides, and how under-resourced care systems perpetuate gender and racial inequalities.

Using a traffic light system to evaluate federal progress, the report reveals where Canada is failing, where improvements are needed, and where progress is being made.

This year’s findings underscore an urgent call for the cost of living, redistributing wealth, inequality and tax justice, fundamental rights and indigenous justice.
