CERB Advocacy
Pandemic relief was created to support Canadians during a difficult time. Income supports such as Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) and Canada Recovery Benefit (CRB) helped recipients; however, the process was built for speed, not precision. The Federal government allocated billions of dollars through an attestation-based system that encouraged Canadians to apply if they met the program criteria. Millions of Canadians applied, many of whom were under duress, amid unclear rules. Years after the end of the pandemic, the federal government is still extracting repayments from marginalized and low-income Individuals. This page is centred on advocacy work related to winding down CERB/CRB overpayment collections
